A Study on the Bone Mineral Content

Abstract

|
The objective of present study was to evaluate the influence of physical activity on bone mineral density in young men. Included in the study were 21 athletes who participated in a full-scale physical exercise program. The control group consisted
of 7
healthy men of the same age distribution. The athletes were classified into three categories; baseball players, gymnastic players, swimmer. On the basis of the results of Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry, bone mineral content of each body region
and
total bone calcium content were analyzed.

@EN 1) Left arm bone mineral contents in gymnastic players were significantly higher than in baseball players, swimmers and non-athletes.
